Tense Situation

Health and Wellness was a great class. I didn't know how stress was affecting my life until taking the "Scores for Life-Change Events" test in my Connections for Health textbook. At first, it didn't seem possible to get over 1,435 point. My score was around 1,800. Each situation has a low score, yet I was off-the-charts. No wonder there were so many ongoing health and depression issues. Recognizing the problem in a clinical way assisted in finding a new plan to prevent ongoing self-destructive behavior.

This is the test. I recommend occasionally tracking progress by re-taking the test. Taking it today, my score was low. Now some additional stress in my life would be healthy. Stress is not always awful. Challenges can be fun and rewarding.

Connections for Health chapter 2

There are basic rules for handling high stress. Think about the issue. If habitually changing jobs and getting into arguments with the boss; put-off quitting for as long as possible, while finding new ways to avoid conflict. Unfortunately, being laid-off might be outside your control, yet increasing time in similar situations assists in reducing stress. Even if it is not a preferred job, everyday is a growth experience until finding a method to work at the same place for two, five, ten years.

In business there are specific techniques related to travel related stress. One way to cope with changing living accommodations and relationships is to create a routine. Exercise for half-an-hour to an hour a few times a week, clean the house, become a regular at a restaurant, talk to friends on the phone every weekend and so-on. These regular activities create an unchanged foundation to cope with a wildly different environment.

Low amounts of stress means having the ability to take on new projects. It isn't required; however, stress is also caused by feelings of living below a personal standard. Start an interesting hobby or work on a promotion. Plan how regular maintenance activities will bring about new and improved lifestyles when ready for another challenge.

Balancing and perfecting a structured method to stabilize activities and reduce stress is its own reward. Stress causes depression, anxiety and angst. Good role-models are not available everywhere; therefore, we must relax and focus on the issue. Beyond developing a personal plan, share this information with other people. They can work on a plan, while working on your own plan until stress factors are minimized. In addition, if suffering from stress for a long time, get a physical. Stress is responsible for several medical conditions.
