Personal experience reveals racism and materialism are isms of the past. Most people know treating anyone differently because of race is wrong. Most people know a person is nice or mean regardless of how much money is in savings. No one is challenging a new ism. I hear about it on the news and have known people still propagating the roots of formalism.
Growing up most people know how to make decisions regardless of racial stereotypes. The Popular Crowd was multicultural. There was a mixture of White, Latino, Asian, Native and Black. Though the same stereotype is everywhere it is not the media's fault is wrong. Watching several popular television shows the Popular Crowd is traditionally multicultural.
Materialism was a question of concern for several people. Tackling the materialism debacle, it is easy to see people share similar values or they do not. Wealthy are not all thieves, hoodlums, sex addicts or criminals. There is proof of ethical and law-abiding people with wealth. This premise is applicable to the Working-Class and Poor. The majority must be ethical; otherwise, crime would be an activity without a definition of being a crime.
How does this misconception happen? Thinking about the issue for a long time, it is because of additional associations to a person character and mannerisms. I smoke. It is true. I am not a slut. I do not do drugs. I do not engage in criminal activity and definitely do not have a mission to commit felonies.
I was treated for hypothyroidism and took Zoloft for a few months as is the prescribed normal treatment. After hormone treatments for the physical illness people usually have difficulty readjusting and processing all the information during a traumatic illness. I took it for a few months and stopped. Several people become addicted to prescriptions and took antidepressants for years. Eventually, they join a group and might take Saint John's Wart. A reliable source says Saint John's Wart is great natural supplement for avoiding substance abuse and not addictive. I don't know why. I did not take it.
The functionalism society deems itself as the higher source of being, because it is functional. Everything must have a function. Drive to find the ultimate utility of life places formalism under an eerie spotlight.
Why do people assume everyone the Popular Crowd is White? The assumption defies logic. It wasn't in their school. It wasn't in my school. It isn't on television or in films. There is a chance a someone went to a school wherein the Popular Crowd represents the ideals of society or neighborhood. Not wanting to be more approachable, they chose to rule under a dictatorship. This is an anomaly, yet it is important to acknowledge current circumstances despite statistics and another person's dissimilar experience.
Does smoking cigarettes, a legal substance, imply criminal activity? Most people just smoke. In fact, I avoid mind altering drugs. I do not like feeling out-of-control. There is no combination of Prozac or whatever drug in my system. Alcohol does not go to my head. Alcohol is also legal for that reason. On its own there are hardly any noticeable problems, maybe liver diseases.
Am I permanently emotionally scared because of a disease that causes mental illness? I got treatment. The point of treatment is to feel better about life and continue life as a normal person. Patients receive treatment so they do not get worse until dying.
Formalism has rigid viewpoints of all life. Somehow it deems a mythical, magical reality through formal terms. These terms become an overriding truth of all life, yet most of the time it is false. People need to stop clinging to olden ideals of the world and realize progress addresses most common social issues. Even without progress there are signs of functional solutions for life and living well in the past especially when in opposition to the formal ideal of the world.
Everyone needs to accept current reality and get better at addressing problems with everyone's best interests in mind. This and that do not mean more than what it is. Sometimes I entertain the idea hardship makes people stronger and sturdier than people who without stress. Even then it is an opinion that only applies when it applies. I suffered plenty of hardship. I still prefer running home and maintaining my whelp existence.
